Biography
David Bateman is a performance poet and painter living in Toronto. He was born and raised in Peterborough, Ontario. His graduate work in English Literature and Creative Writing was done at the university of Calgary and he received his PhD from U of C in 2002. He has taught literature and Creative Writing at Trent University (Peterborough), Thompson Rivers University (instructor/writer-in residence, Kamloops), and Emily Carr (ECIAD). His four poetry collections have been published by Frontenac House Press (Calgary) over the past 15 years. Hidden Brook Press (Brighton Ontario) published his collection of short stories and creative non-fiction (A mad Bent Diva) in 2017. In 2020 his first novel, DR SAD, was published by the University of Calgary Press.
